Multi level railway Project

Transition between lower level to second level.

Early ramp construction

I was allocated a space of about 15ft x 11 ft to build a model Railway.

the rough track plan I was given to work from had circuits crossing each other everywhere making for an operator’s nightmare. I redrew the plan as a multilevel plan with the circuit crossovers seperated vertically. There was a number of layover sidings beneath the main operational level.A double track main line ran through the main operating level and down to the lay over sidings below and had about 60 ft of running on each main before starting to repeat itself.

The sidings on the lower level were to represent destinations on either side of the main operating level. Trains were meant to layover out of site and be replaced by a different train. for the novelty effect. The main operation level had passing sidings and an industrial and maintainence branch line.

The first complete circuit

The first complete circuit

There was a major branch line running from the main level up to an important grain terminal area. For entertainment purposes a line continued back down to the maintainence line on the main operating level . It entered that level through the rear of an engine maintanience shed. After all this is modelling and we can let our imaginations play. Efectively this created a third circuit of near 60 ft.

When I laid the track the temperatures were around zero C . Later when the temperatures reached toward 40 C The tracks expanded and the lines warped mainly in critical areas around points. I worked out a jointing system to overcome this problem but the owner wasn’t prepared to help make the joints. I worked out then that this was a project to keep me busy and distract me from thinking about my wife’s passing and I lost interest in the project altogether.

RC Hobby Shop Flight Simulator.

Great news!

We found you a free Flight Simulator.

Regarding other Flight Simulator products for you, this process is taking longer than I thought it would. In light of controversey over the Flight Simulators on the market at present we suggest that for the time being you download Flight Gear for Windows 526mb here or Flight Gear for Macintosh615mb here or Flight Gear for Linux here. In time we hope to release our own version and unlike others we will be contributing from our profit to the source code writers and their charity.

We will be including a download option along with DVDs with a full range of aircraft and scenery plus some other materials.

We are also continuing our search for wholesale suppliers. There are so many seudo wholesalers it is proving difficult to seperate the sheep from the lambs.

Why have I used archive footage of real B29 and P51

aircraft on a RC Hobby Shop website.

I reckon we all have some memories of the Hollywood scenes of Aircraft and Warships and archive footage of them in action.

It has been the use of aircraft in war that has accelerated the development of the aeroplane and created so many vehicle, warships and aircraft that we can model. Indeed it has probably been the heroic achievements of our forebears that have motivated many RC Hobbyists.

I am amazed by the massive industrial development in producing the many B29 and P51 used in the attack on the Japanese mainland and also by the dedication of the aircrew and support crews.

The planning and coordination that went into those attacks is mind blowing.

Feel free to watch the 36 minutes of archive footage here and remember the efforts that went into keeping our countries free from tyranny.

Enjoy the realism that has not been duplicated by flight simulators to date.
